This year we hosted our Friendship Feast on Wednesday, November 10th.
It is part of our curriculum to include children in a group discussion to prepare their favorite dish for our feast, and then share with all of our friends during lunch. During the discussion, some friends suggested that they make specific dishes, while others pointed out their favorite vegetables. The discussion evolved into a vote, and resulted in a very eclectic menu for our feast. Below is our Friendship Feast menu:
Pixies: Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
Sprites: Banana Bread
Munchkins: Yogurt Parfaits
Chipmunks: Peach Cobbler
Muskrats: Penne Pasta with Tomato Sauce and Meatballs
As the holidays near, we began to discuss some traditions, and the concept of contributing and sharing arose; therefore, children were invited to bring some of the items to help cook their classroom dish. This is a school wide process that aids us in exposing the children to the concept of collaboration and team work. After preparing their dishes of choice, children thanked one another for creating such delicious meals!
